Planting Curraghmore Whiskey Barkey in the Mayfield

May Stokes

Last updated

There’s something truly magical about planting season at Curraghmore, especially when Mother Nature grants us weather as beautiful as we’ve had lately. Under radiant skies, our dedicated team has been busy planting Amity and Gangway barley in the picturesque Mayfield, setting the stage for another exceptional whiskey-making season.

This year, the conditions have been ideal. The sunshine and gentle breezes have created perfect soil conditions, making tilling, fertilizing, and sowing feel less like work and more like a privilege. Watching the barley seeds settle into their new home, we’re reminded of the deep connection between the land and the luxurious, character-rich whiskey Curraghmore is known for.

What makes Mayfield particularly special is its unique feature—a gallops runs directly through the field. As tractors carefully navigate planting lines, thoroughbreds from the nearby stables gallop by… It’s a remarkable sight: horsepower and horse power, sharing the land harmoniously, both symbols of strength, tradition, and elegance.

This mix of farming tradition and equestrian elegance truly captures the spirit of Curraghmore.

We’re looking forward to an excellent growing season and a successful harvest this autumn. We’ll keep you updated on our progress!
